The Lived Journey
The Evidence is Clear

Studies have shown that peer mentors, who share lived experiences with patients, can offer invaluable emotional and social support, which is often beyond the scope of traditional medical care. This support is particularly beneficial during critical phases of recovery, such as post-injury or chronic disease management, where patients require more than just clinical intervention—they need empathy and practical advice from someone who has been in their shoes

Mission

Recent research underscores the value of peer-to-peer mentorship as a complementary tool to traditional medical treatment. Peer mentorship, which involves individuals with similar experiences providing support and guidance to each other, is increasingly recognized for its potential to enhance clinical outcomes and alleviate the workload of healthcare providers.
This model not only improves patient satisfaction and outcomes but also allows busy providers to focus on medical tasks, knowing their patients are receiving comprehensive care.

Vision

Our peer-to-peer mentorship program stands out for its commitment to quality and expertise. All of our peer mentors, whom we call "experiencers," bring a wealth of knowledge with over 5+ years of lived experience in their respective areas. This extensive background ensures that they can provide deep, nuanced support to those they mentor. Moreover, each experiencer is thoroughly trained in trauma-informed approaches, allowing them to navigate sensitive topics with care and understanding. This trauma-informed lens is crucial in creating a safe, supportive environment for mentees, especially when dealing with challenging health experiences. By combining long-term personal experience with professional trauma-informed training, our peer mentors are uniquely equipped to offer empathetic, insightful, and effective support that complements traditional medical care. This approach not only enhances the overall patient experience but also contributes to more comprehensive and holistic health outcomes.
